New Year’s, 2009
The plan was that this strip would be easy and quick to make.
Then, as usual, I wound up spending as much time on it as I would a normal comic.
Anyway, it’s 2009.
1999 began a decade ago.
One of these days I’ll stop thinking that was last year.

Some times I think we are only as old as we were when we graduated high school. All these years later we are still trying to prove to ourselves that we were either right or wrong about our beliefs at that age, but we never really move past it.

I don’t know, I’d at least like to think that I don’t define myself by my high school self. I don’t feel like my high school experience was good or bad enough to be defining.
That said, the transition from high school to college and/or job, from child to adult, from family to living alone, is probably the biggest change that most of us endure, so it would make sense that that year stands out as a defining barrier.
