With the exception of downtown Portland, almost everything in Maine seemed to feel at least ten years older than what I was used to (and keep in mind that my basis for comparison is mostly Ohio, not the most futuristic state in the union). This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, I like a good bit of anachronism, but it did feel very odd.
